Common questions buyers ask before choosing a charcoal SKU.
What types of charcoal does WoodCharcoal.in sell?
35 SKUs across three raw materials. Wood (hardwood lumps, briquettes, powder, fines) for BBQ, tandoor, foundry, and biochar. Bamboo (lumps, hexagon briquettes, cube briquettes, powder, activated) for hookah, cosmetics, and filtration. Coconut shell (lumps, hexagon, cube, pillow briquettes, powder, activated) for hookah, yakitori, water purification, and pharma adsorption.
What's the difference between lumps, briquettes, and powder?
Lumps are irregular pieces of carbonised material — slowest to light, hottest burn, most flavour. Briquettes are compressed charcoal powder bound with food-grade natural starch into uniform shapes (standard, hexagon, cube, pillow) — fastest to light, most predictable burn, easiest to ship. Powder is finely ground charcoal — used in cosmetics, water filtration, biochar, and as feedstock for activated carbon.
Which charcoal type should I buy for home BBQ?
For home BBQ, hardwood pillow briquettes give the best balance: faster light-up than lumps (5–7 minutes vs 12–15), 2–2.5 hour burn, mild aromatic smoke. If you want longer burns or higher heat for tandoor / sigri, hardwood lumps. If you want zero aroma (rare for BBQ), coconut shell pillow briquettes.
Are your charcoal products chemical-free?
Yes. No petroleum accelerants, no glue, no chemical binders. Briquettes use only food-grade natural starch as the binder. Lumps are pure carbonised material with no additives. The only exception is steam- or chemically-activated carbon, which uses water vapour or potassium hydroxide during activation — both are washed out before packing, leaving a chemically-pure activated carbon residue.
Do you ship to all parts of India?
Yes — every Indian PIN code via Shiprocket's multi-courier network. Fastest delivery is to Gujarat (1–2 business days), Maharashtra and Rajasthan (2–3 days), and most other states within 3–5 days. Free delivery on orders over ₹999. Bulk orders (≥500 kg) ship by dedicated truck or courier-pallet, typically within 3–7 business days.
Are there any weight or quantity limits per order?
Retail orders: no upper limit, but orders over 500 kg trigger wholesale workflow (we contact you to confirm freight + COA). For air freight retail (rare), the limit is 25 kg per parcel for major couriers. Cash on Delivery is capped at ₹5,000 per order (Razorpay / UPI / bank transfer for higher amounts).
What's your return policy on charcoal?
Charcoal is a consumable product — we don't accept returns once the packaging is opened. If the product arrives damaged, defective, or out-of-spec versus the COA, contact us within 7 days with photos for a full refund or replacement. For wholesale and bulk orders, we encourage a sample order first (₹500, refundable against the bulk order) to validate fit before committing to volume.
Do you offer subscription or recurring delivery?
Yes for hospitality customers (hookah lounges, restaurants, hospitality groups). We supply on monthly or fortnightly schedules with locked-in pricing for the agreed period (typically 3 / 6 / 12 months). Contact sales with your venue's monthly volume to set up a subscription quote.
