Cookie Policy

What cookies WoodCharcoal.in stores in your browser, why we store them, and how to opt out.

Last updated:

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file a website places in your browser. It can be read again on later visits. Cookies let us remember your cart, keep you logged in, and understand which products and articles are popular so we can improve them.

2. Cookies we use

2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)

These cookies are required for the site to function. They cannot be turned off because the cart, checkout, and login flow won't work without them.

  • wc_cart_id — keeps your shopping cart linked to your browser session.
  • medusa_session — keeps you logged in to your account.
  • wc_consent — remembers your choice on this banner so we don't ask again.

2.2 Analytics (consent-gated)

Loaded only after you accept analytics on the cookie banner. They help us measure which pages perform best and where visitors get stuck.

  • Google Analytics 4_ga, _ga_*: anonymised page views and session metrics. IP anonymisation is enabled.
  • Microsoft Clarity_clck, _clsk: aggregate heatmaps and session replays (no keystrokes captured on form fields by default).

2.3 Functional / preferences

  • wc_wishlist — your saved-product list (stored in browser localStorage, not actually a cookie, but treated the same).
  • wc_recent_pin — last serviceability PIN you checked, so we can prefill it on the next product page.

2.4 Third-party (set when you use those features)

  • Razorpay sets payment-session cookies during checkout.
  • YouTube embeds (if/when used in blog posts) set Google cookies.
  • Cloudflare sets cf_* cookies as part of its CDN/WAF protection.

3. How to opt out

You have three controls:

  1. The cookie banner on first visit lets you accept or decline analytics. Decline keeps only the strictly-necessary cookies.
  2. Your browser settings can block all cookies — see Chrome, Firefox, Safari docs. Note this will break the cart and login.
  3. Browser DNT (Do Not Track) header is honoured — when detected, analytics is suppressed even if you previously accepted.

4. Retention

  • wc_cart_id: 30 days from last use.
  • medusa_session: 14 days from last activity.
  • wc_consent: 6 months — after which we re-prompt.
  • Google Analytics: 14 months (default).
  • Clarity: 1 year (rolling).

5. Changes

We update this policy when the cookies we use change. The Last updated date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are also announced via the cookie banner.

6. Contact
