Where it's used
The applications Flavored Wood Charcoal is best suited for, and what to expect in each.
Mesquite-flavoured BBQ
Mesquite-infused lumps give an assertive, earthy, slightly sweet smoke note — the classic Tex-Mex BBQ profile. Pairs especially well with beef brisket, beef ribs, lamb and game meats where the strong wood character can stand up to the protein.
Applewood-flavoured cooking
Apple-infused lumps deliver a softer, fruit-forward smoke ideal for pork (ribs, shoulder, belly), poultry and ham. The mild fruit note enhances rather than dominates — the most versatile of the three flavour options.
Cherrywood smoking
Cherry-infused lumps contribute a sweet, warm, slightly floral smoke that suits ribs, duck, game and red meats. Cherrywood also lends a beautiful mahogany colour to the surface of smoked meats.
Specialty restaurant grills
Steakhouses, smokehouses and high-end BBQ restaurants pick a flavour-specific infused charcoal to match their menu — flavoured charcoal gives consistent wood-character without the variability of fresh wood chunks.

How to use flavored wood charcoal
A simple step-by-step for first-time users — applies to typical home and small-commercial use.
- 1Match flavour to your protein
Mesquite for beef and game; apple for pork and poultry; cherry for ribs, duck and presentation cuts.
- 2Light in a chimney starter
12–15 min until ashed over — same as standard lumps. Don't soak in lighter fluid; it'll mask the wood-flavour aromatics.
- 3Bank for indirect smoking
Pile coals to one side of the grill or smoker, food on the cooler side. Indirect heat at 110–130°C lets the flavoured smoke infuse the meat.
- 4Layer with raw wood chunks (optional)
Add 1–2 raw wood chunks of the same species (mesquite/apple/cherry) on top of the lumps for an extra layer of fresh smoke.
- 5Replenish for long cooks
For 4+ hour smokes, add fresh flavoured lumps every 2 hours without disturbing the cook zone.
Storage & shelf life
Store sealed in a dry place, off concrete floors. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to strong-smelling solvents or fragrances — charcoal adsorbs odours readily. The wood-flavour aromatics are volatile compounds — they fade faster than the burn quality. For peak flavour, use within 9–12 months of despatch and keep packs sealed when not in use. Burn quality holds for 24+ months.
Why wood for this?
Wood charcoal sits between bamboo and coconut on most performance metrics — moderate fixed carbon (70-78%), the longest practical burn time of the three for grilling, and the most familiar smoke and flavour profile for traditional cooking.

Common questions about Flavored Wood Charcoal. Don't see yours? Contact us or check the full FAQ.
How long does Flavored Wood Charcoal burn?
Flavored Wood Charcoal burns for 3–4 hrs per charge in typical conditions. Burn time depends on airflow, the amount loaded, and ambient humidity — outdoor BBQ in monsoon will burn faster than indoor restaurant tandoor use.
What is the fixed carbon and ash content?
Flavored Wood Charcoal is produced to a fixed carbon of 70–76% with ash content of < 5% and moisture below 6%. Each lot is tested before despatch and a Certificate of Analysis is available on request for industrial and export buyers.
Is this charcoal food-safe?
Yes — flavour infusion uses only natural wood smoke from the named species (mesquite, apple, cherry). No artificial flavourings, no chemical accelerants. Safe for direct-contact BBQ, smoking and grilling. FSSAI compliant for kitchen use.
What is the minimum order for wholesale or bulk pricing?
Retail orders ship from any variant size shown above. Wholesale pricing (15% off list) starts at 500 kg cumulative across SKUs in a single shipment. Submit a wholesale enquiry via /wholesale/ to request a quote.
Do you ship pan-India? What about export?
Yes — pan-India delivery via Shiprocket's multi-courier network, free above ₹999. Typical metro delivery is 2–4 business days. For export, we ship FOB or CIF from Mundra, Pipavav and JNPT ports with all documentation (HSN 44029090, COA, MSDS, SGS on request).
How is it packaged?
Retail variants ship in laminated bags inside cartons. 25–50 kg sacks are PP-laminated; jumbo bags (500 kg) and pallets (1 MT) ship under shrink wrap. Custom-printed retail packaging is available for order quantities above 500 units — contact sales.
Is GST applicable, and what is the HSN code?
Yes — GST is applied at 5% under HSN 44029090 for charcoal at the despatch stage. CGST + SGST split for intra-state, IGST for inter-state. A GST 2.0 compliant tax invoice is auto-generated on order confirmation.
Why wood charcoal for this application?
Hardwood charcoal gives the longest practical burn for cooking and the most familiar smoke and flavour profile for traditional Indian and BBQ cuisine. It is the most cost-effective of our three materials for general grilling and tandoor use.
