Single-coil electric hookah heater is the cleanest method; a gas hob on medium-high also works for BBQ prep.
- 2Wait until fully red & ashen
8–10 minutes per side — both faces of the disc should glow red beneath a uniform grey ash before transferring.
- 3Transfer to bowl or grill with tongs
Hookah: 1–2 discs per bowl on top of foil or HMD. BBQ: spread ashed-over discs across the grill grate as a flat heat bed.
- 4Rotate / refresh as needed
Hookah session: rotate every 20–25 min for even flavour. BBQ: pack additional discs around the cook zone for long sessions; the round form stacks neatly.
Storage & shelf life
Store sealed in a dry place, off concrete floors. Avoid direct sunlight and proximity to strong-smelling solvents or fragrances — charcoal adsorbs odours readily.
